BRs ?

well,,,,since you asked,,,,I would not use any of the variations ,,,just a plain jane 6mm BR (I have several Dasher bbls.) get a reamer that is ~.471 @ the .200 line and .271 NO turn neck with Lapua brass,,,,this will work in concert with Redding full length bushing die (.265 wilson bushing) ....I will include a reamer drawing of my short range reamer that works perfectly with 62-68 grain bullets,,,for long range using 90-107 bullets a FB of ~.100" will be great,,,you won't need any custom dies or the need to fire form your brass,,,,the trick to doing well at long distance is the ability to read the wind...there is no ctg that will make up for lack of experience,,,,,Roger1726668575180.jpeg

It is interesting to hear folks comment on what the best cartridge is based in competition results. While it is true, a less accurate cartridge is not going to consistently win competitions, any of the BR improved variations are also capable of winning. At that point it becomes the Indian not the arrow.
Don’t discount the heard mentality out there. If a top shooter wins a couple of matches with a turd on the end of their bbl, the next match a whole bunch of competitors will have bbl turds. Next, an entire cottage industry will spring up offering custom turds.

Point being, the BRA n Dasher are excellent cartridges, they are no better than a BRX. If u take a look at the history of the wildcats based on the 6 BR, one of the first was the BRX, then the 40 degree Dasher, now the BRA. It is just the variation that a top shooter used with success so the herd follows. Thus the popularity and when a large number of shooters compete using the flavor of the moment, the the cartridge I’d declared the best Because of wide spread use.
I am not arguing one 6 BR variation is better than the other. In the hands of top shooters, they are all capable of winning. Just about every competitor in short range benchrest shoots a 6 PPC. Proven great cartridge, they don’t all shoot the smallest groups or produce the smallest aggs.

What distance are you going to be shooting? Up to 600 yards go with a BR
This is what I did. My main shooting range has 500 as my max. So I went with the one that I hear is easiest to tune, the 6BR. The barrel was supposed to be done in June, but the smith got a bit behind and now I'm looking at October. Can't wait! Gonna be lots of fun.

My first BRA reamer (the first named BRA) was in 2016. At that time there was very few shooting a BR IMP (BRA). Today guys will say things like it wins because its the most used. If everyone shot X it would win. While thats true, when the BRA really took off and records were falling fast it was not in wide spread use. For me at least, thats what caught my attention.

look at the equipment list of this year 600yd and 1K Nationals
pretty much even split between BRA, Dasher and 6BR, I don't see many other 6mm variants being used by top shooters
If you want easy to tune cartrige and better barrel life go with 6BR but BRA and Dasher will give you a bit more horsepower and that could be an advantage in longer distance when the wind is not cooperating.
what is the difference between 6br, 6bra, 6brx and 6dasher?

i beating my head against the wall just got my krieger barrel and now have to decide what reamer to go with BRX , Dasher , or BRA i have a 6 x 47 lapua so have just can't make up my mind. sorry i know this is probably getting old to you all .
They all shoot very well! The only ? Is how much time do you want put in to it. I have had them all and choose the easy button. Better to spend more time shooting and less time developing and fire forming etc.
