broken reticle

The reticle on my scope was broken after 1500 shots. This is the second time this happens with same brand. I tried contact the technical support, but they still dont give any feedback.. As I am outside USA customer, they cost me a lot of money, what can be done? Just buy from another brand? :(

No, isnt a Barska, they cost me more thanU$ 1000 in USA

A few questions:

How is it broken? Won't move? Fell down inside the scope?
What brand?
Who's technical support? The manufacturer or the vendor you purchased it from.
Can you call them?

Most major manufacturers all stand behind their scopes 100%. I have had good luck with Leupold and Bushnell.

Keep fighting with Customer Service, just because you live in Brazil should not effect the warrantee. However, depending on the company your dealing with they may have 2 different warrantee shops, one in the US and another for International service, usually based in Europe or Japan. Who made the scope and what model is it? With a answer to that I can give you direct contact info on who you need to speak too.

Friend, unless you provide the make/model, you may as well say "my rifle isn't accurate; is that normal?"

Details, please. As to the scope costing US $1000+, it has a wire reticle, which isn't typical in this day of etched glass reticles. 8)

OK, seems not polite, but both were Leupolds

The first whose reticle broken was an old Leupold 36 X. I even dont tried to send back, but the last was a 8,5-25X50. And boys, they arrive to my hands costing almost U$ 2500, after all taxes.

The "fun" thing is that the reticles dont broke while using , but while in the safe...
Anyway, I emailed two times, and nothing, nada... :(

My next scope will be a NF, at least they have etched reticles.

Thanks

That really is odd, in two ways.
#1-the only wire reticle used by LEUPOLD is the Boone & Crockett. Their primary use is etched glass, unless you have some very old scopes.
#2-I have NEVER heard of LEUPOLD not answering an email, nor a phone call.

The 36 X was bought in USA maybe 13 years ago

The 8,5-25X50 2 years ago.

To me , seems a wire reticle broked. What else can be?

I really dont call, as my english isnt good enough for this, but emailed twice

Leupold may make crappy, outdated, sub-standard Optics that the think are made from solid gold, but they do back up their products with quality service, here is what Leupold says about international repairs:

International Product Service

For customers residing outside the U.S.A., please refer to these important international product service instructions before shipping your Leupold product:

PLEASE RETURN RIFLESCOPES FOR SERVICE TO THE PRODUCT SERVICE FACILITY LOCATED IN YOUR COUNTRY. IF A PRODUCT SERVICE FACILITY IS NOT AVAILABLE IN YOUR COUNTRY, PLEASE NOTE REQUIREMENTS (LISTED BELOW) BEFORE SENDING A LEUPOLD RIFLESCOPE TO THE FACTORY.

I was a big Leupold fan, as I have two more 45X in my competition rifles.

These with broke reticle were bought from authorized dealer in USA and have serial#, and sure arent counterfeit.
But about the broke reticle, cant understand how a etched reticle can broke, as posted by JRS...

You most certainly CAN get counterfeits from an authorized dealer. Even the counterfeits have serial numbers. I have owned more BR scopes made by LEUPOLD than I can remember. The older models had the non-etched glass. The LEUPOLD warranty takes a back seat to NO ONE. They have also occupied a place on more winning competition and hunting rifles than all others combined ;) Check with your nearest dealer or service center and have them take care of the problem.

If anyone has a picture or has seen a counterfeit scope I would like to see it...I could see the effort for a March or high dollar scope, maybe they refine there skills on the leupold

The Chinese chose the most popular and best selling scopes to copy ;) They aren't as dumb as some might think. I believe there was an article in the bulletin board at one time regarding the counterfeits. Unless one knows what they are looking at, they are virtually undetectable.

Ray, counterfeit Leupold Mark 4 scopes are frequently sold on eBay, for a couple/three hundred bucks or so. Have a look, and I bet you'll see evidence right there.

I may be wrong, but I believe they arent counterfeit.

The glass is very good, tracking too.

Looking the serial #, someone could tell something?
