Brass Prep - Removing Sizing Lube

What the best, easiest and quickest) method for removing lube like Hornady's white bear grease from brass cases? I have a quantity of these to process.

THANKS

Some will tell you ultrasonic cleaning is the easiest, For others it's throw em' in the ole tumbler,,then clean the media out of the flash hole). Me, I use Imperial sizing die wax and just wipe off with a terry cloth.

I use the Hornadey spray lube and throw them in the tumbler after sizing or just wipe them off with a towel

I too throw them back into the tumbler after sizing. Works great! Just remember to clean your flash holes...hmm, that sounds awfully personal.

Tom, I am sure that you have an air compressor somewhere.
Just blow the cases out good with an air hose & proper
attachment. Works for me after tumbling. Or, if you have
a tumbler like an RCBS Sidwinder with a tank that will seal,
use some type of solvent in the tank & run for a few minutes.

I use the Hornady bear grease. After trying many different methods of lube removal, I keep coming back to wiping off with a paper towel. Sit down and wipe away while looking over the latest entries on 6br.com/forum.

I use the imperial sizing wax and after resizing I just wipe it off.

I don't throw them in a tumbler for the simple fact that the necks could get dented then my neck tension will be thrown out of whack.

Thanks guys. I think I'll go the solvent in the thumbler approach. I will have around 17K of these to do.

Old Tec Rules

I have been using Coleman lantern gas since the 60's. You put the cases in a bucket, cover them with the lantern gas, slosh them around in the gas with your hand, stick, or what ever.

Put a funnel in the mouth of the Coleman Lantern fuel can, insert a folded paper towel in the funnel to act as a screen to filter powder particles that are dislodged from inside the cases, pour the gas off the cases back in the can for future use.

Next, dump the cases on a towel and let dry, preferably not next to a natural gas hot water heater. If you want to add a little cleaning, grab each end of the towel and rock the cases back and forth in the towel.

Let the cases set for a short while, the gas evaporates very quickly.

Regular gas will not work for this because of additives and stinch, Coleman fuel has no stinch.

Note: do not place cases in the oven to speed up the drying process, and do not smoke while handling the Coleman gas...you may meet Jesus sooner than you would like.
