Does anyone make a brass catcher, something for the bench? I could see it being a product that would be handy.. I would think it would be faster than building a towel trap every time..

I made my own with the metal loop out of an old lampshade some material and a 4x4 for a base.. Works like a champ and you can make what's ever size you want... You can just buy one pre made but you can build one yourself out of whats laying around , it's not hard..
That's what I use. I have it attached to my shooting cart but it also will mount to a standard tripod. It's 17" wide so plenty big enough to catch everything.
Me too, only I used a small old fishing net and a hunk of 2x6.
I agree that we are in the throwaway age and most people can't make anything. Dating myself, I came from an era where it was either make it, fix it, or do without. Yet again as I get older (a lot older) it's sometimes easier just to buy something it's reasonable and well made. And like everything you buy, you have to work on it to make it right. I like this catcher. It's porous and the wind won't blow it away. It was designed to be taken apart with slip joints where the red "X"'s are and stored in a handy dandy little storage bag. No thanks! I spent more time putting it together than using it. I drilled through where each "X" is with a 1/16" drill and ran a tiny piece of wire through. It won't come apart again! Also, it has a gap under the front and cases will sometimes roll under and to the ground. I made a flap (green rectangle) to cover this area. Another issue is the angle. To use with a pistol, I mount it to a tripod and angle it forward. If not, the brass ejects straight up and over it.Invention at its finest... And I thought I was the only one...lol
The 4x4 I used on mine I stained and cleared useing left over stuff from back when I built my reloading bench.. I found the lamp shade hoop in the road in Austin one day and a few days later I had my brass catcher...
People shooting ARs ask about it when I take it to the range its a conversation piece and a brass catcher.. I am sure alot of you also remember when we built things instead of ordering from Amazon but I may be dateing myself with that statement...lol
May not be as pretty as store bought but it holds a ton of brass and it plain old works..
Have a great day everyone..
And a second time, just a red X in a tiny square. Here is a new image with 4 different options.Something happen to the picture when I uploaded it. I'll try again![]()
If you can sew this is pretty easy. I have sold a good number when people that see them in use.
I contemplated tilting it, but through testing, found it not necessary. If the fabric is not tight, the brass stops immediately and drops straight into the pocket at the bottom. If the fabric is too tight, the brass will bounce out. Put some sand in the bottom sections of the pvc and the winds will not blow it over.I thought of a PVC catcher, figured I would get laughed at.. I would tilt it back a bit for a bolt gun..

Have you tried weighting down your tripod? Mine will handle up to 25 lbs suspended but I use just a 10 lb weigh and never had it blow over.I have one that mounts on a tripod. Works great at the bench unless the wind picks up. Worked terribly in the PD towns where the wind always blows. So I switched over to the Caldwell catcher that has a block that mounts on your rail. So I can switch my brass catcher between rifles. After around 8000 rounds the mesh wore through, so now I have a denium patch held in place with safety pins. Works great for me.

If it works, who cares? Want something to laugh at, ... it's the guy crawling around on the ground trying to find all his brass.I thought of a PVC catcher, figured I would get laughed at.. I would tilt it back a bit for a bolt gun..
