Brakes.

How much more effective are the new brakes vs. the old "Vias" brakes. My old vias type brake has about and inch worth of holes. Probably in my head and the way I hold the different guns, but my 14 LB Rem 700 EDGE with an A5 stock and a small (ish) Defensive Edge brake kicks less than my 1K comp gun with a 338 Edge tube screwed on and weighted up to over 30 pounds and with the vias.

I don't care about IBS rules as this will not be used in IBS comps.

GO!!

I've owned a Vias, I've owned Harrell's, MPA Alamo 4 Star and Muzzle Brakes and More the Beast Brake, which I believe is the best simply because of Nathan's testing. Behind my rifles with either the MPA brake or MBM brake the recoil reduction feels pretty equal. The MBM brake doesn't rise as much because of the way it's vented at a little bit of an angle to help cancel out muzzle rise.

Also I believe they should do a new test.

Seeing how well a tuner works, I think I would at least look at a tuner break if I were you.

You wont beat a Harrell's or vias on a Br rifle because the rules limit port angle. On a rifle without those rules the Beast from MBM or the Terminator are better than any other I have used. In fact some similar designs have doubled recoil over a beast on the same barrel. The two I mentioned have put in the time to develop some brakes that really work, not just copied some ones design like some have.

I have Vias on it now. Just thinking about a second brake. If I need the vias, I'll have it on hand. Just need to make sure the tune is the same.

I've got a MB&M four port on a M-N that I shoot some rather heavy loads in . And find it to be excellent at calming the rifle down , reducing barrel jump to near nothing .

I have a vias on my 257 weatherby/Krieger, i don't like it but can't change it because it is soo accurate. However the new brakes like jp enterprises competition brake is far superior in every way. My 7mag has a jp/ competition brake and it feels like a 222 when shooting. Utterly amazing.
