Brake recommendation for .300RUM

Would appreciate member's experience with various makes and styles. Are solid bottoms less accurate, use with suppressors, etc.?

The best I have used is the Armalite one. It does not work with a Suppressor unless you remove it.

Bill, I love my Muscle Brake.

I have the "Slabbed" Mini Muscle Brake on a 284 Win, and recoil is way less than a 243. And, no dust or snow kicking up from underneath. Do yourself a favor, and go on the website and research it.

Most of the competition shooters use a Harrell's type. They seem to be accurate. I would not get a brake that don't have even amount of holes top and bottom. I saw a slow motion video on one with holes in top and it bent the barrel and stock on firing. I could not believe how far they moved. It would have to hard on the stock, action and barrel. Matt

I have the Vais muzzle brake on my 300-8mm. It's very good and less noisy than the others that I have been around.

Ross schuler..... i have 8?? Of em on 8 different rifles... all 3 ports and one 5 port on a 338 LM... they are the best ive ever seen and priced right... its dumb to pay more for some other brake..

Gen II Fat Bastid waiting here for my big .30 cal build.

The APA line of Gen II brakes self index with a locking nut, so the barrel only needs threaded. Swapping the brake to ANY barrel no longer requires a gunsmith to fit/time it.

I have Muscle brakes from Ryan Pierce on my .338 Rum and several other rifles. They work amazingly well. The only down side is they are noticeably bigger than the barrel diameter. For a more sleek brake, I have used Nate Dagely of Straight Shot Gunsmithing from ND brakes on many hunting rifles including two 300 Rums, they work well also. Those 230gr. bullets feel like 175's out of a .308.

There are a few basement "machinists" out there "making" brakes and selling them online, cheap. They are JUNK. I bought one that was not only out of concentric with the threads, the threads weren't even perpendicular to the outside diameter. It looked nice but went in the scrap bucket.

I just bought and installed a brake on my 300rum--I bought a Kahntrol Solutions-slip on-this brake is amazing-makes a 300rum feel like a 308win,with 150--I am shooting 230 bergers at 3050 f.p.s.--go to web site and check these out.

Have a Harrels Bros. on my 300 WM and it is very effective and very moderately priced-great value and workmanship.

I have the factory installed Armalite on the AR 30 338 Lapua and along with the factory installed recoil pad it tames it down to the felt recoil of a 30-06----surprised the h--- out of me as I was expecting to get beat up and it is actually near pleasant.
Now, the muzzle blast and sound emanating out of the end of the barrel is something else and I would wholeheartedly recommend double protection on your ears and those nearby and watch what is on the bench behind and to the side of the brake as it WILL end up off the bench due to blast- would also be nice to warn the shooter on adjacent bench of what is going on so as not to get a WTF was that like I did the first time ;D
