I will take David Tubb (or John Whidden) with a sling on his belly at 1K F Class target, shooting his 6MM over the bottom 85 at the last F class Nationals shooting whatever they want to bring.
Rule number 10 in our 500m BR shoots is “any competitor caught not having fun will be disqualified”. The majority of the 500m BR shooters also invest a lot of time into there shooting and equipment but rule number 10 still hasn’t been broken yet to my knowledge. Winning is nice but it’s not everything. I agree with the OP in some respects though as getting a gun to shoot can be frustrating but the sport wouldn’t keep us coming back for more if it was easy!Like I tell people! This is a new season! I myself have to learn to shoot all over again, because I don't have the pleasure of shooting all winter. I know i made a big rookie mistake and forgot to tighten my front rest down in H.G. class. L.G. I know I wasn't holding the rifle the same and ended up with two groups one above the other but small groups. Five shots I would have been happy. So don't blame the rifle. you still have to do your part. Some of you have to say to yourself I'm here to shoot and have fun, not my rifle is a piece of crap and won't shoot. Seen more guys quite shooting because they have to win all the time. relax and just enjoy shooting!

You cant buy your way into the winners circle
I look to my own results, and if they are or are not improved. I don't look at what others are doing because possible they're just better shooters/tuners.
My stats from dashers...
10 shot groups at 1000 fired=184
10 shot groups in the threes =1
My stats from the BRA...
10 shot groups at 1000 fired=26
10 shot groups in the threes = 3
Besides what I see in tuning sessions leave ME no doubt.

I think you can take BRA out of the title and incert Dasher, 6BR, BRX, BRDX, GRINCH or any other cartridge you can think of and the statement would still hold true.
As far as I’m concerned the BRA is not a bad way to go!

easier to form, more uniform brass,
I have been following this post this barrel in question what class do you shoot in the 600yd with this particular barrel. What Alex and BR1 said is correct. I declined to stop using that barrel. Just kept on testing. Actually learned some doing it but never got decent results. Agree with many I was the dummy (Harry) that should have stopped earlier.
Now, I do not know the issues with the other two local shooters also having issues getting their BRA's to shoot. BR1 knows them and may know more than me. Also aware of another shooter, Doug Bell, who did lots of testing and then went north for the Summer without much success either.
Seems the best is BT1 and his results sure show his abilities. His name is Steve, not Harry.
By this Fall I will be re-barrelled, chambered and going at it again. I did not give up, just noting to others, as stated by some...the BRA alone does not make it easy.

Do you even shoot 600 or 1000 yard BR? The rate of fire will kill a 243 pretty fast. MattI'll stick with my .243
