BR Rear Bag Question

2-Stroke Dirt Devil

Silver $$ Contributor
Have finally acquired LR BR rifle. Now on a couple of waiting lists for front rests.

Question concerning rear bag height. What height rear bag do folks run?
The difference in height between fore end and bottom of rear end is 3 inches.
The fore end and rear end are parallel.

Protektor offers 4 inch high rear bags. Edgewood offers 2-1/2", 3', 3-1/2" and 4".
I am inclined to think the 3-1/2" would be what I would need, but have no experience with BR shooting at this point.

Additionally, the bottom of the rear end is 3/4" wide. Assuming I would order for the 3/4" width between the ears, but assumptions are generally 50:50.
Just wondering what would be appropriate setup, or what is preferred.

Thanks

Allot depends on the front rest you use. With
My seb i like a tall bag. 4'' + a 1" dead bottom
Also keeps me from having to get so low to get behind it.
Using the old Bald Eagle rest with the Shadetree Eng. joy stick top I just custom ordered a Protektor rear bag that wound up being little over 5 inches tall due to the angle on the vintage stock.

Ahhh. Yes the stock size would also have a big impact on the rear bag. Some are 6+" i would guess. All mine are shorter with less angle.

On list for the new PMA front rest. (maybe March of 2026)
The idea of not having to hunch over behind the rifle is good. I hadn't thought of that.
My mind was focused on the height difference between the fore end and the rear end.

I like a 4" bag for my F/Open guns on the bench behind a seb mini-x. If I'm using my Cowan rest, I add a 3/4" thick wood spacer under my bag. With long range, target height can be a factor at some ranges going from 600 to 1000. Get a good adjustable stool like a drummers throne and that can help.
