It sounds that what you're saying ... instead of Baloney ... and I agree, is that there is more than one way, and more than one reason, for establishing the contour and dimensions of a rear bag a certain way.
That it's based on one's shooting disciple, competitive rules, the way the rifle's rear stock is designed, and the way in which it should recoil, to give one the most accurate result and smallest groups, on paper, over the course of the yardage selected.
