Personally have not seen a velocity difference between the 450 or BR4.
Did you see groups change much or was that pretty much like velocity? When I did a 308 Win 155.5gn Berger bullet load side by side test series with SR primers, the range of 15-shot average MVs was modest over 14 primer models, around half that of a previous test involving LR primers. changing SR primers seem to have less effect than LR models in this respect, that aside from the claimed improved consistency benefits they offer in 6.5X47L to 308 Win size cartridges and charges. (Also, don't forget the reduction in flash-hole size which has a significant effect in itself.)

Laurie linked it 3 posts up.Go look up the primer comparison study done by Laurie Holland a few years ago for Target Shooter Magazine. The results are eye opening to say the least.
From my results with the Fed 210, I have not seen a difference in accuracy or velocity between Match and regular. But then again, I weigh all my primers. Different lots can vary and sometimes regular 210 primers weigh out better then Match. MattHere is some "food for thought".. I have chrono'ed CCI BR-2s against the CCI 200s>>>>>>ZERO difference in velocity, e.s.s or accuracy. I have NOT done the same thing with Fed 210"GM"s and the Fed 210s>>>but ever since I did the testing with the 200s vs the BR-2s, I don't buy anymore "GM"s and so far there does not appear to be anything lacking. Then you have the CCI BR4s and CCI 450s>>>>a "BenchRest" primer vs a "NON-BenchRest" MAGNUM primer>>>let me hear the chorus of people who would NEVER use a "non-BR" primer, like the 450s instead of the BR-4s>>>oh the silence is deafening!
There are 2 schools of thought here: 1.) certain primers have an affinity for certain powders>>>a case can be made for that; and 2.) you can "build" a load around most any primer>>>>and T-Rust me, a case can be made for that too! So what have you gained by my "observation(s) above? BUY whatever primer you can get your hands on at the moment and BUILD your load around it>>>you will be happy you did! FORGET the ever increasing "value" of monikers!
Thank You Matt! Your testing has confirmed my suspicions about the 210s.From my results with the Fed 210, I have not seen a difference in accuracy or velocity between Match and regular. But then again, I weigh all my primers. Different lots can vary and sometimes regular 210 primers weigh out better then Match. Matt
Federal doesn't have a big price difference between 210 and 210 Match. But now CCI has a big price difference between 400 and BR4's. I really think if you are weighing them, there isn't much difference. MattI know Im not near good enough to tell any differences in them like some of the guys on here but I’m a creature of habit and want the best components I can get my hands on within reason so I only use the BR’s. I could probably get by with Sam’s choice and be just fine lol but for only a few cents more I’ll stick with what I know and what I’ve used for a couple decades without any issues.
All of you truly intellectual guys breaking stuff down to the micron impress me and I’m proud to know you smarty pants exist but I’ll stay in my corner eating Cheetos from the sideline and watching.
