So I can't find federal match primers for small and large rifle. And thinking of trying Remington 7 1/2 BR primers. Anyone using them ? And what about there large rifle primers thay are not bench rest primers are thay worth trying ?

You might want to do some searching for primer tests. In my experience Remington primers are hot compared to others. For that reason they are about the only ones that I will not use for a 6ppc. I am not saying that they are a guaranteed disaster, just that I generally look for cooler primers for my particular applications. IMO, if you can get standard Fed primers, you will be as well served as by the match. They will vary more from lot to lot, but if you make tuning adjustments, that should not matter. I did a little research at the horse's mouth on this a number of years back.

In my 1000 yard BR rifles I see no difference between Federal Match and regular Federal. I weigh all my primers to get the odd balls out. I was told that they are the same primer but the more experienced guys put the mix in them, supposedly making them more consistent. Matt

I use Rem 7 1/2 primers in my 20 VT, 204, 223, 22BR, 6PPC with very good results. As always you would want to work up specific loads when you change primers. I also use Fed 205M when available and CCI 450 at times. It may be my gungs, but all have performed well for me. In large rifle I stick with either Federal 210M or standard CCI, just my preference.

Remington 7 1/2 BR primers are actually a small rifle magnum primer. The 6 1/2 is their standard small rifle. They ignite powder like AA2200 and other double base powders much better than standard primers. Remington primers do run hotter than Federal primers but that's just a matter of adjusting and retuning your loads. While I do prefer them in certain applications, I use Federal in most of my match applications.

First, my stock of 7 1/2's are about 20 years old, my stock of Fed. 205's are 2 years old. That being said, I usually run side by side tests,10 charges of xyz powder, 5 with 7 1/2's and 5 with 205's. In a 1-9, 26" Savage, there is little difference , in my 1-8 , 20" RRA V, the 7 1/2 will shoot 50 % smaller groups that the 205's . Will the new stock of 7 1/2 do the same, you will just have to test them.

I've done some cursory comparisons of the Rem. small rifle BR primer, the CCI400, and the 205M in an accurate Sako .222 using a 50 grain Sierra and 20 grains Reloder 7 in Win. brass. As for accuracy, virtually the same; velocity went from an average high of 3087 (205M) to a low of 3057 (Rem. BR) with the CCI in between at 3075. Again, little difference.

I wouldn't feel handicapped with any of the primers in my own evaluation, but I'm reasonably sure there will be lot-to-lot variance.

Most of my reloads are based off Rem 7 1/2 and WSR primers. I have a few Federal and CCI (maybe 500-1000 of each) but only get one box (1000) when close to running out. If I get into the last box of the Rem or WSR, I order a new sleeve (5000). Some powders just work better with certain primers. Change in primer can take a load from mild to wild. I have used cooler primers in a pinch, but never hotter. You really need to drop powder charge or totally work up your load to do this.
