BR Help For The Little Guy

Anxious Without Pills
I use to be an icon on BR Central. I was the Jackie Schmidt before there was a Jackie Schmidt. Difference was most everything I wrote was to help the little guy get his BR plane off the ground. The whole time on BR Central I was building a BR Program at San Gabriel. I spent more time on the phone and computer trying out my BR knowledge than probably anyone else in the Country. I learned from some of the best to ever shoot and run the Sport. I continued on BR Central from it's 2nd year maybe 1997 till 2003. In this time I was far and away the first big dog having written and posted 3000+ while the others were still in their first 1000.
Except for dealing with the 3 legged ravenous dogs and hyenas on BR Central that slice, dice and spit on their competition provoking my gutter language I enjoyed my time over there. I wrote threads or posted 10-12 times a day. Even till my end I answered all the newbie questions except for the constant what are the best primer questions. I was removed 4 times for provacative defense of my positions and killing several of those ravenous dogs. All my threads, posts, and my name on the obilisks were removed all 3000+. Let it be written Let it be done.
I have been a part at San Gabriel at helping a hundred or more new shooters start our great BR sport. Why people get started in BR? As Tony Boyer said in his famous Super Shoot interview for the Back Country program back in 1995 he sought out a Sport that he could be competitive in. Tony started BR in 1979. Faye said it better "we don't shoot for fun we shoot to win. That's why we're here." Two ambassadors to our Sport that are about as kind natured as you can get besides their dual HOF status.
So there you have it. Get hungry get mean get your equipment straightened out get your crying towel ready. This Sport takes no prisoners and nobody wants to hear excuses. But your reward when you win something has no compare. However it only lasts till the next Shoot.
This Website 6mmBR.com needs to go forward. We in the West have been waiting for a Forum such as this. The West has Ranges far and few between and needs a Forum such as this to keep faith that the Sports can support eachother. One such Range is the Reno range the BR Short Range run by Jan Sarras. He is having the SW Region UNL/HV portion in July 8-9 and needs your participation. Every shooting program needs participation. Do what you can don't let the land grabbers take away one of the oldest competitions in America. Not wife swapping guys Shooting that is.
Stephen Perry

I just spoke with John Loh, another one of the San Gabriel crowd. John told me how much he appreciated Stephen's efforts with the BR school. John was coaching novice shooter Rob Daniels. When Rob ended up with top Agg for the novice class, John told me "he,John) felt like a proud father."

We have to appreciate the efforts of guys like Stephen and John who put a lot of effort into helping others and introducing new guys to the sport.

My wife and I attended to BR school in San Gabriel. It was well thought out and run. My wife shot in the afternoon after a 6 year semi-retirement and regained her interest in the sport. She will shoot in a match with me next weekend in Northern Utah and leave with me the following weekend to go to the super shoot.
Thanks guys,
Dave Blazzard

So Mr Perry, What are the best Primers??
OOOPs Only Stirring.
Good to see people put something back into the sport.
I run a school shoot here in Australia at our local Range one of the local schools holds a camp each year for its year nine students near a dam not far from our range and for the last 3 years they have been bringing them to the range for instruction in the safe handling of firearms and we have a BBQ lunch and show them how to shoot bench rest with Rim-fire also Pistol and shot gun and a demonstration how accurate Centrefire bench-rest rifles are. They have a ball and we also get a few of the parents joining up.
If you want your sport to continue you have to give a little back.
Keep up the good work.

I'm new here on this board, nice forum), but not new to BR Shooting. Thank you Steve Perry for bringing up Palomino Valley Gun Club. We are alive and well in Reno Nevada and invite ALL shooters to come on up and enjoy our range. Over the Memorial Day week-end we will be hosting a LV/HV shoot at 100/200 and 300 yards. It is a NBRSA registered match and as such all rules will be enacted. Come on up and join the fun. Visit our facility on line @ www.palominovalleygunclub.homestead.com Also in July we will be hosting the HV/Unlimited portion of the Southwest Regionals on the 8th and 9th. Free dry camping, daily lunches available at the range. I look forward to meeting some of you folks and sharing information on this forum. Thanks,
Jan Sarras/Match Director PVGC
