BR Deer Hunting?

Thinking about building a 6BR or 30BR on 700 VLS action for deer hunting. Im not real educated on the 6BR as Im having my first one built as we speak. We dont have huge body deer down here in the south like other states so a .243 is sufficent and .30 is plenty, most all shots are within 200 yards, most on those are within 100 yards. Planning on maybe a 8 twist LV barrel at 24" to throw out some 105gr bullets on the 6BR or a 17 twist on the 30BR for 115gr. I havent looked but Im thinking my 30BR selection of bullets is probably nothing. Dose anyone deer hunt with either one of these rounds, I know the 6br is real popular for varmints but Im always looking for something new to take a deer with but not exactly sure about the 30BR. Opinions on this case or any other BR case. Thanks for the help on this tupid question. ;D

I think you answered your own question. Its not about what's behind the bullet, but the bullet composition, velocity, accuracy and performance after impact. You are still shooting a .243 or a .308 bullet in either "case". If you can build a rifle that shoots them more accurately, thats more in your favor. I vote yes for sure to your question in your described use. IMHO

I hunt deer with a 30BR. It's a Sako L579, 14 twist 20" Pacnor, IIRC it's a #2 profile. I shoot a light load (compared to BR competition standards) of H4198 behind Nos. 125 Ballistic tip. About 75yds is the farthest I have shot deer with it though.

The 125 gr Ballistic Tip is a good deer bullet & I have used them in 7.62x39 to 300 WSM & they work well at all speeds.
With that said, look at the new 110 gr TTSX Barnes or the 130 gr TTSX Barnes. Super bullets, the 30 BR is lots of rifle for these bullets. They don't need to be driven hard to open up. You will never recover one of them regardless of where they're hit. Pretty much DRT. I just built a 30PPC to use culling with these same bullets.

How does the 85gr Game king work for deer? I have a 20" 6mmBr barrel for an Encore I use for yotes, maybe I'll give it a try for deer.

I had no problem with the 87 Gameking. I have switched to the 100 Gameking for this years prairie dog shoot just because it has a better BC.
