30BR or 6BR?

I have some questions about the 30 BR. I was wondering if the 30 BR is as accurate as the 6br. and also, what is the max range? Can it shoot 600 yards very well? Do they make a 30br improved? I like the barrel life on the 30BR, but i want to shoot 600 yards. Should i just forget the 30BR and just go with a 6br or brx? Thanks for the impute.

The 30br should not stay with the 6br at 600. The short low BC bullets will be blown around by the slightest breeze. The 30br is used mostly for score shooting at 100 and 200 yards.

do they make an improved 30br? Something that could push it fast enough so it could go 600? or am i just wasting my time?

Josh11,

There is a guy at Peidmont gun club shoots a 30 BR for IBS 600 yds, and does very well shooting 110 gr Berger's, But I don't think is runs as well as the 6BR,6BRX or 6Dasher.

I had a 30br for score, it is a great shooting round. I have thought about getting on with a twist that would shoot a 155 Palma bullet, it may do better long range.

One good thing about the 30 br gun, it is eazy to add a 6BR barrel to the gun.

Well please dont tell 'Aussiebob' a member on here that a 30 BR wont shoot to 600

He's used his in comps to 700 that I know of and placed highly
he shot small group with his 30BR at several comps in tropical conditions a long way out

My 30BR is still under development and I have got respectable groups at 500 with a 155 F-class projectile

Mine has a twist to suit the heavier projectiles and still shoots the 125's into small holes at the 100 and 200 mark
and has done a .441 with the 155 Dyers at close range

and mines not a bench gun, its a factory Tikka action in a factory varmint stock with a fixed 16X scope

grab some 125 NBT's or the new 135 HPBT'S,at approx 3000 fps) and give 500+ yards a go yourself before writing the 30BR off at range

I have a 1:16 twist 30BR that I have shot a handful of 150 SMK in. They shot very well. Sub-1' at 300. Probably right on the edge of stability. Only powder I had was H4198 and I was running way hot. Ruined a few brass, swelling at the brass and got the click). Never tried them again. However, I routinely shot 125 TNTs in this gun and it shoots them well at 300. The efficiency of the 30BR is so good, I think you can get very close to matching the performance of a 308 with a lot less powder. I know got the 150s to over 2650 fps with a 22' barrel.... but a loss the brass in the process. tiny
