BR Action Info — Wichita?

It seems in great shape. The previous owner was using as a sled for fire forming 6PPC brass, so the barrel would be "sacrificial" or shot out. It's in great shape, except the trigger doesn't reset on its own. If I push the trigger forward, it works perfectly. Probably would be fine with a cleaning. My friend used lighter fluid as a solvent for cleaning his triggers. My benefactor was very close with Lee Six and had Lee do the stocks for many many of his rifles. Lee was one of the fiberglass pioneers and an avid shooter himself.

His rifles would change roles as they aged. They'd go from prime competition rifles and then graduate to varmint rifles. This is the only one that was designated as a fire forming rifle for 6PPC. I expect it was from the days of making PPC brass from .220 Russian or such. He did all his own barrel work, so having barrels with matching chambers wouldn't have been a big problem for him. He loved the bench guns for varminting and we had rotating shooting benches with pedestal rests and rear bags. Very hard on ground squirrels.

I have a benchrest rifle chambered 6PPC, right bolt, left port, 3 lug. Unmarked. Any ideas what this might be?

Thanks.
It's a Wichita. I have one, Shilen barrel, Lee Six stock, Leupold 12X scope, built it in .222 Rem. (so I won't blow big holes in pelts). Shoots my handloads (50 gr. Ballistic Tips, Ramshot Exterminator propellant, CCI BR primers) into tiny groups, as small as I can hold from a bench. Oh, by the way, I'm left-handed, so is this rifle.

I forgot to write that it has a Shilen trigger, too. VERY nice.

Neat old actions. When you take the firing pin assy out to clean everything up, be aware that the bolt shroud is left hand threaded. The original pin springs were pretty heavy...a bit over 30 lbs.

Good shootin' :) -Al
