While I spend a lot of time at the range in practice sessions, I'm primarily a hunter. I learned long time ago to seat the bullets no closer that .010" to the lands to allow for variations in bullet ogive even for my precise varmint / predator reloads. I've never found it necessary to seat closer to achieve precise reloads. Some of my rifle even prefer more jump. Functionality is just as important as a precision for a hunting rifle / reload.
Like one of the other poster said, you don't need a tack driver for Elk.
On an expensive hunt it's also best to verify that your reloads will chamber and extract without difficulty before you depart.
