boring bar for chamber prebore/muzzle brake ect

Please help out a new guy keep from wasting money on bad tools. Can anyone recommend me a specific boring bar or at least a specific type for use in pre-boring chambers and such?
Thanks much Shawn

Depending on the cartridge, I'd start with pre-drilling a 13/32" inch diameter hole (for 308-type cases) then using a 1/4" solid carbide boring bar with a super sharp HSS/Carbide insert - usually CCMT inserts are used in boring bars. Just take off a small amount - something like 10 thousandths over a few passes to make sure the drilled hole is made concentric with the bore. Then finish ream and call it a day I'd say.

image.jpeg I've been using Widia Circle 1/4 inch type F solid carbide for years know and like them. Part number on the bar is FCBI25065R.

Look for the miniature solid carbide boring bar's in the boring depth and minimum bore size for your rifle bore and chamber length to the shoulder. I use micro 100 very sharp tools.

Thanks very much for the advise. I have been burnt on cheap tools that werent good and ''good'' tools that werent better than cheap. Hate to repeat either of those mistakes, at least with my own money! again thanks much
