Boretech Eliminator vs Pro Shot vs CLR

You stated that your barrel was clean... that IS pure speculation without a bore scope. Just because your patches come out somewhat clean does not mean the barrel is clean. Been there, done that, and believed that one too many times. :D

No, I did not say that. Just so we are clear. :)

I said when I use my process, which includes JB scrub, I know THAT is clean because I scoped it.

This test, I just showed everyone the patches. The only thing I know for sure is that Pro Shot did NOT eclipse Boretech. Not at all.

Perfect. Thank you for the clarification.

Oh I seeee.... well there you go.

I am going to use the CLR to clean carbon on my 357 stainless and see how it does. That will be a visible test.
What color is the Patch-Out? The brownish color you see on the patches might be nothing more than the patch picking up the remnants from the Patch-Out.

What color is the liquid in the Bore-Tech Eliminator?

So the synopsis is that Bore Tech is good (use proof positive jags)
Pro Shot sucks
Bore Tech CR is good
CLR is questionable
Bore scope is recommended
Is that about right?
Shoot Small

Wasn't what I got. Boretech Eliminator is good; ProShot didn't do more than Boretech (i.e. no consensus good or bad, but not clearly better than Eliminator); CLR did seem to do something more, but is lacking verification.

Borescope keeps people from contradicting your results :-)

I have been using Boretech until clean and then two patches of scrub with JB every other clean for years now and my barrels are very, very clean and shoot very well. I hate brushes. I do like these Butch's patches though!!!

I will try the CLR since I bought it.... but I don't really think there is anything wrong with JB scrub every other cleaning despite the Internet rumors to the contrary which is somewhere in the neighborhood of Flat Earth or the Mandela Effect...
what do you mean, the earth is flat :)

So, you are using C-4 for carbon and then Eliminator for copper?
Correct C-4 for Carbon / powder, and regular Eliminator for general cleaning. The Eliminator Copper treatment works well on the stubborn deposits. If you want to get more aggressive use a regular brush. The problem with that is the patch will show copper because it is eating the bush. Thats where the bore scope comes in handy.
On a side note i used everything on the market,Hoppes,762 solvent,Montana, Wipe out, and several others and found myself back to the C-4,Eliminator, and Eliminator Copper.

If I didn't know any better I would say it softened SOMETHING in the throat. Like, you could feel it. Like there was something soft and goo like in the throat.
I tried it on a barrel that was in the tomato stake pile. It did a good job on the carbon /powder, but no better than the C-4. It may come down to a cost issue. The CLR is cheaper.

A good way to compare bore cleaners effectiveness to lifting/cleaning carbon layer, is with Q-tips, then applied to inside case necks. And also directly on bullets for copper removal comparison.
Who'd a thunked a guy from nort dakota woulda solved this riddle?
409 spray cleans up moly real good now, if I shoot moly bullets again I'm scrubbing the barrel with it.

Bore Tech cleans out all the moly. I was really shocked to see there was no moly in my bore. I am not sure what all the fuss was about about moly, Dawn soap removes moly right quick. I think all soaps do...
