I got my new 17" Hawkeye kit w/angle eye piece in today and all I can say is WOW...I should of bought one 25 yrs ago!
Upon inspection of my BHW AR15 6x45 bbl the insides look abosoluty perfect for the 5p SS select match bbl, very smooth without all the hammer marks, (what I did see were very smooth) no wonder it shot so darn good.
My new McGowan bbl...for a select SS match bbl...weell BHW has it beat! Although its very nice inside you can't miss the marks the rifling machine leaves...actually looks like my Savage bbl, you know its not hand lapped. This one does not have a round through it yet either.
My 4105 round .223 Savage bbl looks like new still, hammer rifling all through it, No erosion, my throat is perfect still! Rifling starts right at the neck, nice & sharp
My 41,367 round .223 bbl looks very good after I get past the worn throat (about an inch + some!) and into the rifling, so smooooth from all those rounds right up to the end , then a bit of more rough area about 3/8" in from the muzzle. This is my wall hanger bbl now & the McGown is in its place.
I did not see/find any fouling or moly/carbon in any of my bbls. I can now attest to Wipeout being tops in fouling removal!
