Bore Tech Solvents

Just about 95% of my cleaning "gear" is BoreT but I like Patchout for Copper, I have one factory barrel that coppers up nicely and PO generally makes quick work of that. I have also seen where C4 leaves a barrel "clean" PO still lifts up a little bit of carbon without to much elbow grease, the BT rods run very nice but one of mine started "flaking" the finish so that rod will get replaced by a Dewey.

I had talked to a Bore Tech technician about this and he said they are water based but have chemicals in them to offset any problems this may cause. He said because of this it is not necessary to oil the barrel after cleaning with Bore Tech but if you are not going to shoot it for several weeks after cleaning you might want to run a oil patch through it for storage which is something I have usually done whether a cleaning product is water based or not. I have gone months without oiling the barrel after cleaning with Bore Tech and have never noticed this causing any problems with the barrels when using my Hawkeye Bore Scope to check the barrels.
plays hell on brass, I would always patch it out with kroil

Yep I agree that Bore Tech copper remover works Great and is not harmful to the barrel with overnight (or more) soaking. One thing I did notice, that no one has mentioned, is that my left thumb and index finger loose some skin after a couple of days. Those are the two fingers that pick the soaked patches from a plastic cup and insert the patch on to the aluminum jag. I may have to start wearing rubber gloves because this happens every time I clean with the Bore Tech copper remover. It doesn't hurt at all, but I know that it can't be a good thing either.

Go get you some Super Slick from Lowes for $6.99 a can. It smells like oranges and dries so nice and pretty. Great for carbon too. After cleaning with Bore tech products give your chamber a quick spray with the SS and run a patch or two with it. Great stuff. Good for flushing all the stuff out of the chamber and leaves a nice shiny slickness. Incredible on parkerizing.

I soak a bunch of patches with the Cu+2 and keep them in a small plastic bottle in my range bag. Also keep some CLP soaked patches to run through the barrel and leave a protective coating. I like having them all ready to go. I often will clean the barrel before I leave the range, having them pre-soaked makes it easier and I don't have to carry the big bottle around.
As for the CLP that stuff is amazing. I live on a boat with all my rifles and handguns. Being around that moisture would normally be cause for concern, but after 8 years, I can pull a gun out after two years of sitting and it looks perfect. That to me says it all.

The caps will crack around the bottle top if you tighten them hard.
I got the bigger ones with the flip up spout. A year now and no leaks.
Do those seal well? I had a flip top bottle with some oil in it and it leaked everywhere. I havent had an issue with these.. yet. I'll keep an eye on the cap.

Tipton Flip Top Gun Solvent Bottle (3-Pack) on Amazon. I would like smaller ones. But this is what I got.

After breaking in a barrel last week, I placed some dirty patches back in my ammo box on top of the spent brass and by the time I got home there was some kind of crazy chemical reaction going on each and every piece of brass that it had touched.

Yeah, I cleaned necks with it. I didn't wipe it off the base of the shell and it turned permanently black. Also didn't swab out chamber really good and bolt lift was crazy stiff, as in stuck.

Is minimal effort from the chemical or combination of brush and chemical?

I’m using Elimintor only.

I use the Carbon cleaner, then the Copper Cleaner, with a patch only on my rifles. The only time I use a brush is after a longer shooting session (100+ rounds)

Sounds like you need to pay closer attention to your cleaning procedures.

I have all the BORE tech products and have used them since they first came out. On any of my custom guns and most production guns....I have NEVER used a brush. Eliminator and patches only...great product line...especially the rod carriers...

You are not the only person to say they have never used a brush. My question, do you own a borescope to actually know
that you dont need to use a brush. I use to think that before I got a borescope.LDS

My cleaning regime changed once I purchased a scope...more scrubbing with brush now..

Just thought I would add to my earlier post that I decided to try some of the C4 I just got earlier this week on what I was sure was a clean bore. Definitely lots of carbon still in there. C4 got the rest of it.

I have been using the Bore Tech Rimfire Blend since it first came out Use it on my .22 Rimfire Bench Rest Rifles
