Bore sight calculation

Just wondering about using a added height tool to raise the bore sighter to bench zero scopes that are mounted really high. once the grid is visible, after zeroed)do I drop elevation on adjustments additional to compensate for the added height used to raise the bore sighter? If this is'nt clear I'll try to reword it,any thoughts....

The "boresighter" is actually an optical collimator and is used to measure angular offset - elevation and windage in this case. Most units sold for use in scope alignment have grids that are 4 MOA per division. The vertical or horizontal offset from the bore axis is of no consequence to your scope settings as long as you can see the grid and the collimator axis remains parallel to the bore. Note that the cross hair movement relative to the grid as seen through the scope will appear inverted,up is down) and reversed, left is right).

Thanks for the info,I was just wondering if I needed to compensate for adding aditional height when using and offset devise. A call to Sierra Bullet Smiths informed me that some simple things can be overthought. He ran some calcs on a 3" center to center bore to scope measurment along with load data and told me to drop 1" on the grid.. I should get on papeer @ 50yards with that.
