Surprised no one has mentioned Barrel Saver. Made for years by TK Nolan, now Dennis Wagner. Very nice, last a lifetime bore guide.

Why is the Lucas preferred over the PMA
What does one do that the other doesn't.

It isn't that one does something better than the other. Both are very high quality rod guides made by people that know what shooters need. I simply prefer the synthetic rod insert (Lucas) for my coated Dewey rods.

The bore guide has dual "o" rings to stop anything from getting into action.

I recommend Dewey Copper Eliminator series of rods and jags. (and brushes if you like nylon)
Copper elim
No brass in the rod or jag, so if you see green, it is copper in your bore.

I use Lucas bore guides, you buy the specific caliber and rod diameter for a perfect fit.

Sinclair made me one a few years ago, I'm presuming they could help you out.
