borden actions alpine vs rimrock ssr

I am new on here I would like to know if there is much difference from the alpine and timberline to rimrock ssr and lsr
they cost more is it worth it

I'm really not that familiar with Jim's actions, but I do know that the Alpine and Timberline series of actions are designed for the hunting rifle with a bit more bolt to raceway clearance than his other actions. All his actions are made using cnc machinery and should hold very tight tolerances. If the build in question is for a big game rifle, then I think I would be safe in saying that the Alpine or Timberline would be the way to go.

I am looking a long range target/varmint and a little Deer and Elk hunting 7mm wsm or 300 wsm in the 10 LB range 6.5 to 20 ziess broughton 5c with a 26 inch 1-10 twist Richards custom walking var stock #7 will this work for a all round fun shooting rifle out 8oo or more there is a $500 difference between the alpine and the ssr

I would go for the Alpine/Timberline since you will be carrying it around hunting.Yes,the Rimrock series actions are worth the money and are a benchrest grade action, but not something I would want to subject to much dust/dirt.Which ever route you decide on,youve probably got at least a 7-8 month wait from Borden.

The main difference is the one piece bolt,I believe) One piece bolts are usually more expensive than the rest of the action!

I have one of Jim's Rimrock actions on my 6 X 47 Shehane BR rifle. It is smooth as silk but the clearance is shy. I don't know if I would do a hunting rifle with this action or not. I'd have to ask some questions before I considered it. Jim's actions are top shelf no matter which one you use. Bill
