Seeking input on Borden actions

A little Extra Virgin Olive Oil on the Bolt body takes care of the tight bolts! Borden action won the World Open in PA.1000 yard this year if that helps.

I`ve got an Alpine coming from Greg, as soon as it gets here...and the holidays are over....i will send it to Jim to have a 2nd. bolt installed and his PVD treatment on the action and both bolts....

Joe,
You're kidding right? Vegetable oil goes rancid almost as fast as animal fats. It might smell good when you shoot it but it turns gummy after a short time. ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) or light mineral oil is much better. I use ATF and kerosene in a 50/50 mix for all my guns.

I do also want to have at least the bolt coated possible the entire action.

Nick
Be careful what you coat with. Duracoat or other "paints" will lock it up so tight you can't get the bolt to operate. A surface hard coating may be OK. I will coat an action, cocking piece and bolt handle but never the bolt body. It's stainless anyway.

I am going to use Borden pvd coating. I didn't think the bolt body was stainless. Thought I read it was 4140?
