Boot Qs

This is a little off but its still hunting so...
Who wheres Danners or Rockys.Pros/Cons.Never had ether and im looking for a new boot for deer season and 1 for elk season.

Austin,

I have two pairs of Danner Acadia's,8 inch). One is insulated the other one is not. They are the best boots I have ever owned. It takes a little while to wear them in but then they are so comfortable.

For years I wore Browning boots, the last three pairs I have had were junk, they all leaked, and the soles wore out in a very short period of time.

I don't own any Rockys, so I can't comment.

I've got 2 pair of Danners that I use only for my archery elk hunts. Two so I can rotate. When these wear out, I'll be done, because I won't be able to make it up the hill anyway.
I do wear Rockys around here. I'd rather wear these out and replace them, than buy new Danners.
If you really want to get serious, get Meindls.

I love my Danners! The're 10 years old and get more comfortable every season.
The only Rocky's I've ever had any luck with are my Snow Stalkers.

Ditto Alf's comment on the Meindls. -Al

I have two pair of Danners as well as a pair of Wolverines. I had a pair of Rocky boots before this. The Rockys aren't worth the money and are what I deem as a disposable boot.

The Wolverines are some of the most comfortable pair of boots I have ever owned but the dang soles disintegrated on me after 3 seasons....I'm currently having them resoled with a Vibram sole.

The Danners are the best of the best. I have the 100gram 10" Alaskan and a pair of their hiking boots. They are there for me when I need them and they are the best mix of arch/ankle support and comfort. These too have top-down stitching so they can be re-soled. I refused to spend $200+ on a pair of boots with a glued sole on them...I want the ability to have them re-soled. Go with the Danners and they will treat you right.

I have gone through 2 pair of Danner, resoled numerous X since my 1st pair in 1980) currently have 3 different pair Danner. My only other choice in a hunting boot would be a pair of Russell boots

The Russells can be bought custom made for your feet or as stock. IF you want a pair of boots for long term hunting and can afford it, go Russell. If straight from stock ...go Danner. Either way you can't go wrong

if you get white smoke jumper boots made to measure with boob soles you can walk up, down and around the hills all day with the least slipping and NO bloodey nuckles on your toes. i have a polio leg and foot and have to ware them ever day just to walk. when hunting with healthy frends on very steep ground i can often do better than they can with danner or other fit all boots. get at least 10" boots white's boots spokane wa
