Bolt oil

What brand oil are you guys using on your bolts? One of my Bat actioned Dashers bolt tolerances are very tight and requires lubricatin to work smoothly. So I'm seeking something that works well and actually stays on thru a two target match.

Jason

I have grease for the lugs but I'm looking for oil to put on the bolt itself so it slides smoothly. The oil I have been using just isn't slick enough.

I use the tw25b grease on the lugs and body too. Its a very thin grease and does not make the bolt sticky. Try, you'll like it.

I use the grease on the whole bolt and lugs also, should've mentioned that. Have you tried benchrite super bolt lube? It's pretty good stuff

The TW25B guys have the grease and they have an oil. I get both in the syringe dispensers. I use the grease on the lugs, and I mainly use the oil on the bolt body. I have used the grease on the body. You can work that grease with your fingers on the bolt body and works great.

I use this product. Synthetic with PTFE and easy to find.

Thanks guys I'm gonna try the grease and see how well that works for the bolt.

MrMajestic, there's no shiny wear it's just the tolerances are close and the bolt doesn't slide as freely as I like.

Pat Reagin at PMA sells Benchrite's "Super Bolt Lube" that Jason mentioned, and it works really well for me on a BAT Model M. A tiny little bottle lasts for years. It, and his Action Cleaning kit with the round foam discs are two of the best things to benefit my shooting that i have found in the USA and had shipped to Australia.
At about $6 its a good buy !

Just a thought, but is the rifle bedded or a glue in? Could it be binding up due to bedding? Try loosening the rear screw and see if you can tell any difference. The BATs are tight..IMHO, a tad too tight, but it's hard to knock their results. That said, I don't think another half thou of bolt race way clearance will change those results. I've been using a product sold by Goodson for a few years now, as bolt lube. It's hands down the best I've found. They call it Gel Lube and it comes in an aerosol can. It's actually made by Valco, out of Cincinnati. It goes on liquid but "gels" in a few seconds. You can't hardly wipe it off and it's very slick...Great for bolt lugs! It's used as a lube to aid in pressing parts together, if that tells you anything. It's a little thick for what you're after, but after wiping the bolt down with it, give it a quick, light spray of a light oil like Rem-Oil, and it thins the viscosity down and leaves a super slick film on the bolt. --Mike

James, try the cheap & easy way......OLIVE OIL !
Holy crap! I was just helping my wife can some salsa and read this during a break. My old Ruger 77, 7x57 standing in the corner of my office that I had just worked the bolt a few times on and it was sticky. Two very small dabs of olive oil on my finger rubbed on the bolt body and it is slicker than snot on a doorknob! Great post. Barlow
