Bolt handle screwed to main bolt body??

I saw a pic of a nice BR action with the bolt handle screwed to the main bolt body. Anybody see one like this,just wondered who made it. sorry no pic,flush screw. I drew it out about what it looked like. Honestly A good idea! The back shroud looked like A Remington . Thanks for any help....inquiring minds want to know!

It is a common alteration after they usually set up primary extraction which some rifles lack because of sloppy workmanship. There was someone on here doing that.

I want to say I have seen some Farley actions like that. Using a screw is actually a good way to do the job if the bolt and handle are designed for it. The heat used to braze or tig can cause warpage of the bolt and that makes fitting the shroud accurately a challenge. I wouldnt do it on a Remington because I think it weakens the handle too much.

I've seen it where smith's were adding that screw to the handle to "strengthen" it. The assumption was that it supports the brazed on handle. I think it probably does more harm than good. Haven't seen it done in a while.

It was a popular mod to remingtons after the baseball bat handles were breaking the brazing off

I've done a few of those to Remington's. Don't think they are necessary and I think they guys that wanted it done were more interested in the cosmetics that anything else. I don't think large knobs break bolt handles off--2x4's break bolt handles off. Along with the large knobs came a lot of new shooters loading their own ammo. A hot load, a stock bolt, look around the range and grab a 2x4, whack it once, twice, three times, bolt handle comes off. Monday they are on social media posting "It just fell off in my hand".

I did a few 700's like that, I had a customer buy a brand new one that the handle popped off the 1st time he loaded it (that one went back to the factory).

I love the way Farley did that and no doubt they did it for a reason. Clean ignition and shroud fit go hand in hand.

Both of my Farleys have bolted on handles, that I did myself.
Why??
Years ago, one came off, I sent it back to Farley, and I got stuck in what we called “Farley Time”, where minutes become days, days become weeks, weeks become months, and so on.
I finally just told them to send it back. I timed it, and bolted it on. I then installed bolts in the second one Just to be safe.

I think the old Cooper actions had a bolt on handle.

Yes you can see the other hole on the top in front of the shroud where another bolt is.
