Bolt face and lug

Ok ,first question, can I rebate a WSM case to suit a .473 bolt face?,..................safely.Second question,I have a Stiller Python which I do not have a recoil lug for,I would like to fit a barrel chambered in 300WSM to this action.
That being the case should I either have a lug manufactured(Stiller have none and wont for a loooooong time),would I be able to get away without using one?,is it viable if I machine/mill across the underside of the action to say 80thou depth and when bedded this would act as a lug?.

Regards Chris.

Any ground lug will do. There are several manufacturers that can provide them. I think MidwayUSA even has them.

You can rebate the rims, but you wont have enough material left for the extractor to catch on....
Brownells has lugs, so do Gre-Tan and PT&G..
Give em a call...

I wouldn't try the rebated rim trick, not enough material for the extractor to grab. Recoil lugs are readily available. I think I just said the same thing as the previous guys :)

Thank you all for the info,I should have researched the lug a bit better but seeing the action shape and larger diameter tenon I didnt think that they would be available,I will look into this a bit more.
Ok what if I machine the extractor groove as well as rebate the rim the same amount, any reason it wouldnt work?

Regards Chris.

It's a lot easier to open up the bolt face than mess with every piece of brass. Or pick up a mag bolt if you are looking at a switch barrel rifle.
