I have been shooting at BTR since the mid 60's.

For a backstop, BTR has a small mountain/ridge that is ~1000 yds in back of the targets - you would have to aim up at more than 10 degrees to clear the top of the ridge. At that angle, the bullet woulds pass over the property in question.

The real issue is that there is a developer that bought a large tract of cheap farm land just on the other side of the small mountain that is the backstop of BTR.

You can hear the shots on the farm, but for the past 63 years, the moo cows didn't give a crap.

Now that the developer has locked up the land, he wants to shut down the range because it will quadruple the value of his condo's if he can get rid of the noise and "ickie guns" so he can sell to city folks that are terrified of the guns on the other side of the mountain.

Dave Lyman,the son of the man that brought us Lyman SuperTarget spot scopes and Lyman dies) is fighting this to the wall - it may financially break him.

This is happening all over the state of Connecticut,and the rest of the country.

In some cases, people have shot their own houses in order to start the law suits.

My own gun club has also been fighting one of these "stray bullet" law suits - we have been shut down for two years!

After much investment, we are going to open again this September, with a complex,and very expensive) labyrinth of steel deflectors over the firing points.
