Henry Frontier 22MAG Suppressed 1st Look & Velocity Tests

I plan on mounting my Pulsar Thermal Trail XP38 on this new rifle. Any recommendations on which ammo for coyotes with shots under 50 yards at night.

I am learning towards the Hornady Critical Defense 45gr or Federal 50gr [depends on how accurate].

You very likely would pick up some velocity if you cut about 4 inches off the end of that barrel.

Not sure about the 22mag but every one of my 17HMR's, even my 17 WSM, I've cut back to right around 20 inches has shot faster when it was shorter than it did when it was longer.

I've shot my 17 WSM with my 338 suppressor on it just messing around. It looked a little goofy with that big ole can on it but it was fun.IMG_0924.PNG

I have clobbered a bunch of vermin with my ancient 22 Magnum and the 40 gr Winchester JHP always worked good for me. It is not unusual to get a 60# coyote up here so I only shoot them around the house and barn with a 22 Mag.. When I am actually hunting them I use a center fire. If the Winchester load will group in your rifle you are good to go. I did not like the performance of the tipped bullets regardless of brand, always go back to the 40 gr. Win. JHP.

Good Shooting!
