Subsonic 308 without trail boss

Today I shot 168 ELDM's with 8.0 grains of titegroup and 8.0 of Red Dot. The titegroup was still too fast - 5 round averages of 1160 and 1177. The red dot was perfect, 1067 and 1070. Here are the red dot targets at 100 yards. Better than some groups I get with normal loads! Had good and bad spread and sd numbers with both TG and RD. There was one extra fast round in the second target that blew the group and the es number. The target is wrinkly from it starting to rain this morning, which also prevented me from shooting at 50 yards. I think cloverleafs at 50 will be routine with red dot.
Well I loaded up 190 subx and 178 ELDX with 8.0 of Red Dot. maybe to the range tomorrow to see how they work! Thanks for the info!

Well, I went to the range today and shot these at 100 yards. Both were approx. 2" groups. Good enough for pigs! They shot about 12" below my supersonic load. I will post up pictures later.

Looks like you’re having some subsonic fun! Trail boss will be back in the 3rd quarter of this year. Likely at a very high demand, until the vultures get their fill ;)

Well, I can't get them to load!

Glad to hear Red Dot is working well! The supply of Red Dot is a bit erratic and I am certain other fluffy shotgun powders would work well too...

For those shooting a 300 BLK, try a 110 gr bullet over 3.8 gr of Red Dot... Literally BB gun quiet. I have loads to try with Red Dot too this next range trip in 308 Win and will report back as I had wanted to try a bullet with a better BC than the 150 gr Speer SP's I was shooting prior with this combination.

Chronographed this load today, it is only running 990 fps out of my 22" 308 with the 190 subX. This is an 8 pound can that I have had for 20 + years. It may be a little slow but still smells ok. I may bump it a little since I want to shoot pigs with it next week.

Is that subsonic?

UR is great, becoming very influential. I'd say that validates exactly what we have found around here. I'm out of the 168 eldm's I was experimenting with subsonic last year, but I have a big box of 155gr scenar's to play with next. About 7 grains of TG should do it.
