BLM map app for iPhone

Is there an iPhone app that shows BLM land? Looking for something similar to the Maps app with a BLM overlay. Trying to avoid unintentionally crossing onto private property while hunting. I’m aware of the Garmin unit but don’t want to spend that kind of money.

Thanks!

Tom

BaseMap, GAIA and OnX are what most people use.

I prefer BaseMap. Works great and you get all states they support for $30 a year.

I don’t know about BLM land, but I have used On X here in the east to see property boundaries. I’d be willing to bet it would show whatever boundary listed. It’s accurate and is a nice app to have. Useful enough that my father in law uses it in conjunction with other tools for forestry work.

onX maps show BLM (and Bureau of Reclamation, and Indian Reservations, and National Forests, and National Grasslands, and National Parks, and state-owned lands, and ...).

Ok thanks fellas. I’ve downloaded the free versions of the above apps. Question: do they have a function that allows me to “pin” a particular location and then the app will give driving directions?

Tommie, I have onXhunt app. I have the premium version. I think it's $30 a year. It's only for one state and a yearly subscription . The elite is for all 50 states and I don't know what the price is as I only hunt one state anymore. I can mark a waypoint but I'm not sure it gives driving instructions. I know it gives walking directions like a gps, from waypoint to waypoint and you can download areas for when you are out of cell service and still be able to use the map feature almond with your location. You can go to their website and it can tell you better than I can. I like the app and I like knowing who the landowners are but its not always up to date like maybe a year to year and a half out on land ownership. I sold some property about a year ago and they still have me listed as owner.

For around $12-14 you can get a map app called Backcountry Navigator. Then for small fee you can add on an overlay that shows BLM, private, state, FS land etc. It works online or I store map areas in memory by DL'ing them. Then I can recall them when I have no service..

The onXhunt app can store map areas to memory also. Haven't done this yet as just about everywhere I hunt I have cell service. Zilla, is the price for Backcountry Navigator a one time fee or a yearly fee like onXhunt?

One time. As are the add ons. I also go to Moab Jeeping every year. I purchased a trail overlay for that area. Very handy.

I"ve been using Onxhunt maps for several years for both Colorado and Wyoming. I use the phone app as well as the chips for my Oregon gps unit. As others have said, they show the differing ownership types. Just make sure to download the maps for the area(s) you will be in...both to save battery life and for times when cell service is unavailable.

When I pin a location, I just enter those coordinates into my vehicle gps and go.

I have and use BLM maps for areas I hunt prairie dogs in Wyoming. Only problem is they are awful for pinning down the lat/long to figure out exact locations. If the On X phone program works and there is cell coverage, a big maybe, that sure would be the ticket.

You really need something like that for a Garmin or other GPS. Satellites rule, cell towers suck.
