AMax bullets are not very fur-friendly in my experience. A .224 75 grain AMax will punch through a coyote at almost any angle and make a statement on the way out, especially at the velocities that you can achieve out of your .22-.243. I don't have a recommendation for you, as I really don't care about preserving the fur, but I have used the 50 grain Hornady SPSX bullets at close to their limit of structural integrity - they come apart if you push them too fast - and they tend not to exit.Did you use the 17 bullets on fur or was it just for targets? This will be for coyotes so I was wondering how they are on fur? I'm currently shooting amaxes but haven't shot a coyote yet.
2nd that opinion. I shoot 75 gr amax in my 22/243 and you will not be happy if you want furThe 75 & 80gr Amax will blow through a coyote...and at .22-243 velocities they will cause extensive damage.
