Boat Tail Bullets?

minnesota,
I have shot both fb and bt bullets with just enough of the bullet in the case so it wouldn't fall out and shot in the .100s with it, some require more seating depth than others, some require almost no neck tension @ all and some require several thou. Now there are some chamberings that almost have set in stone recopies, say the 6br for instance you can take a load from the book that everybody else is using and unless you have a wore out rifle it will shoot, but for the most part we have to shoot what our rifles tells us to shoot.
For me that is the whole fun of it, unlocking the rifles full potential by using the skills I have acquired and putting them to use in my loading room and on the shooting bench.

That is not entirely what I was trying to get at, I know if you are going to be bench rest shooting that will be the case. If you are going to be hunting with that round especially magnums you are going to need more than what you are describing.

minnesota,
Yes sir that is a fact, for my lighter recoiling hunting rifles I have been getting by with around .002 neck tension for heavier recoiling rifles I use around .004 neck tension and on my really heavy recoiling rifles I may go .005 or .006 with a crimp. When reloading and you not using a crimp it is always a good idea to load the magazine and shoot the rifle and check each round for oal, depending on the rifle 2,3,4,or 5 rounds or whatever, after checking each round if you find one thats moved you need more tension and or more bullet in the neck for sure ;) good luck to you sir :)
