Bix trigger fix

After seeing the videos, I went back and retested all my triggers this morning. I had already polished the critical surfaces and thought I was good to go. But here’s something I noticed this morning.

If I function test with the trigger lying on its side, I can feel the catch. However, if I turn the trigger vertical, like it would be when mounted in the rifle, and test, it operates smoothly. I’m wondering if lying it on it’s side causes the binding.

Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon?

I seem to remember in the back of my tiny little mind, a post somewhere where a gent suggested replacing the 5mm steel balls with 5mm tungsten carbide balls.
Not hopping through my belly button to do it, just curious if anybody has seen that post and see's any merit in doing so.

I was doing that when I was first working out the fix. I stopped doing it a while ago because I concluded it was not helping. I worried about them getting flat spots but have not had a single issue since I stopped replacing them.

Thanks for the reply.
I was concerned with the flat spot issue also which is why I asked before putting a pair in.

Has anyone encountered a situation where with my Bix n Andy Comp trigger in a BAT Neuvo action where the trigger de-cocks after closing the bolt ? The Bix n Andy and Neuvo action are about a year old and have less than 400 rounds fired.

Yes same problem here. Only happens about every 50 rounds. Took apart and cleaned with carb cleaner. Didn’t look dirty. i still need to test.

I’ve had customer guns start doing that. When taken apart they are squeaky clean. Lighter fluid doesn’t work. I found a shot of Teflon dry lube solves the problem, which is steel on anodized aluminum.

Keeping the Bix trigger clean is paramount.

The trigger is designed to be cleaned easily. Chris’s Harris has an excellent video on Bullet Central.

As careful as we are about keeping crud out, it will find it’s way in there If you shoot a lot. and it doesn’t take much.

For what it is worth, on occasion I have taken my B&A triggers off and reinstalled the Jewels that I used for years, and cannot tell the difference with my finger or see any difference on the target. In my opinion, they are two different designs that arrive at the same solution with equal results.

I had 2 flintlock episodes yesterday at a match, so I took it apart and did the test and sure enough it was clicky, polished it up and that definitely fixed the click. Now I’ll see if the target reacts!

keep this in mine, no one tries to make a bad trigger . alex thanks for your guidance in this matter . i have had no problems with B&A . no one i have installed for have come back with an issue . this sounds like a great additional step to make a great trigger even better . i might ask of all those in this post who has had a problem with B&A triggers . i no i have had issues with just about every trigger on the market but for every bad one there has been thousands made without issues .when your in this game for 40 years your going to see your fair share of disappointments no matter how good the product .
