Bix trigger fix

I agree, our world is much better because of guys like Alex Wheeler. However, the issue is still - why does a "premier" trigger manufacturer, ship a very expensive product that requires disassembly and something as simple as polishing by the gunsmith or end user to perform as you expect it to.

I spent the later part of my career working for a dealer who rep'd for a truly "top-tier" manufacture of VERY expensive capitol equipment. We "old-guys", had this discussion all the time - why should we (a collective "we", I didn't work on the stuff) have to fix this stuff, right from the factory, to make it perform?

I don't know the answer, nor do I think there really is one. Our understand of quality has changed drastically over, however many years. I am not singling Bix & Andy out, no doubt they make a very good product, they just happen to be in the spotlight right now. There are plenty of other examples around, and you don't have to even look very hard to find them.
 
yesterday I did a look at the internals under a 10x loupe. The machining and QC is pretty rough. Not what you'd expect for $400. I used a granite block and 2000-3000grit wet dry sandpaper followed with a strop to touch up the moving parts. Pics are a sample of two parts after using 3000grit.

Hopefully BnA or the US importer will address this.

Ordered the stuff for this on Monday and stuff got here today. Really easy, even for someone like me with just a dremel and very little machine knowledge. I swear it feels smoother now. Thanks for the fix, @Alex Wheeler!!!
 
I checked all four of my B&A triggers just now, and all are clean and crisp, no lag, no creep,
I’m not sure about how clean they are. I clean with a bore saver bore guide, always with a towel between the guide and the trigger area.
I guess I will take the off of my LV 6PPC and see what it looks like inside.

I have 5 B&A, bench rest model, triggers. Oldest is over 5 y/o, and the newest was purchased this fall. IMO, I totally disagree with what you were told. YMMV.

Absolutely. I have never experienced this problem with my several B&A triggers but I welcome the information. I have absolutely experienced failures and issues with other brands of 2 ounce triggers that took more work than this to resolve.

Same with me. He changed them personally at the super shoot one year. They are such early versions they dont even have an acorn or patent no on them like the newer ones i have
 
I also discovered mine was hanging up where the top sear engages the vertical piece (don't know the technical name) that houses the ball bearings. As I released the trigger shoe the top sear would lift and catch on that vertical piece and the trigger would not reset. So I used Alex's process of polishing those two surfaces, especially behind the "hook". So far so good.

A suggestion to you gents that are editing your photos in this thread, use the edit pen to show the outline of the surface of the parts you polished, such as the blue in the photo below. Blue line is just showing my suggestion, I did no polishing on those parts.

I just did what alex suggested on the bix n Andy trigger. I just got a new rail gun this winter and put a new bix on it. When shooting it today i was having delay on firing every now and then. When I took it apart it was clean. I could tell by pushing down on the top lever something was hanging it up some and it was clicking. I polished the 2 spots a touch on my belt sander with a leather belt and white rouge. Works perfect. Thanks Alex for the tip. My older bix never had any issue
