Bisley

I got a very brief e-mail from a shooter at the F-Class worlds in Bisley. He said the wind was blowing and he was putting 5 minutes on his scope and shading to the edge of the black. I did not get any more of a report.

Nat Lambeth

Yes, there are pre FCWC matches all week. Getting the Americans acclamated to the British wind.

I have a friend who went to Bisley years ago to shoot in a Palma match. When he got to the range the wind was blowing about 60 miles per hour right to left. He asked the host shooter with him how much to adjust for the wind. The host jokingly told my frind to hold on the next target over. My friend did and shot a 10 on his target. while the target was being scored the wind switched 180 degrees with the same velocity. My friend held on the oposite side target this time and shot another 10.

The host said 'well mate, I believe you have got it.'

Bisley is known for their wind.

bisley can be fun. in 2000 i went on the 1200 with 14 min right on the gun and managed to hit the left side of the tgt frame for a '1'. and the tgt frame is 12 ft wide.

during the match, got to 20 min. came off the line with 4 min right. -- 1 hr and 35 min for the match - 3 to the mound - 3 missess and out. we shot in full rain gear. went threw 2 rain showers - wet from arm pits to knees. shot a 64 - 4V [75 pos.]

god we had 'FUN' - 'fish and chips' are GREAT.

the 'long' 'mounds' [firing points] are on a side hill - left side is low side - so the conditions are different, depending on which side your on.

THANKS RICK FOR THE LINK!!

DARRELL [F-T/R CAPT] told me he was not allowing his team to shoot a bunch of the 'short matches' and onlt consentrate on the 'world ranges'

ron

that's my guess for the open guys as well I think some of the matches were labeled 'optional' so that would explain them not having a score posted

Just thought of something.

if you note, top right hand corner of match - it gives number of shooters - 1000 + per match

THEY ONLY POOST THE TOP FEW. so if your favorite shooter is not shown - maybe he BOO-BOOed!

just a thought

ron

The number of entries in the top righthand corner includes target rifle shooters, so the list you see should cover all f class shooters.

Shaun.

I heard from D. Gosnell and he confirmed that, yes, some of the matches so far have been optional.. He also said that Mike Downey won a 300 yard match with 15Vs in a row - way to go Mike!

On the 'up to Sunday' Grand Agg it looks like our Mid Tompkins is 7th while Bob Mead is 9th.

Lot's of rounds to go though so it an't over yet! Good shooting guys and gals!

I would like to congratulate our US FTR team for their fine showing at Bisley. The FTR Team often is put in the shadow of the F-Open Team. Let me say these men who shoot in the restricted division are just as good a shooters and work just as hard as the F-open team members. The US F-TR team has represented us very well. They are bringing home the Gold medal, 1st place for the Team event.

Thank you gentleman and your wives who assisted the team. Have a safe journey and welcome home. You have made us proud.

Monte--

Congrats. I just updated our Daily Bulletin Report. The UK NRA is not listing all the F-TR team members.

Great shooting. If you have a good shot of all the members of your squad, please send it along.

Monte--is this a correct photo of your Team?

well we did it-we spanked you good. congratulations to the BRITS but well done U.S.A. and all other competitors.BISLEY is a hard place to shoot shifting and swirling winds make it very hard to shoot.
i have never shot there but have watched grown men cry when for all there efforts they dont even hit the target.
from early reports it wad a good meeting with friendships re-united and good sport.
well done all

Another note... FWIW, the US had *two* teams in the Rutland Cup... an F/Open team and an F/TR team. The F/TR team did exceptionally well also, placing sixth out of ten teams - all the rest of which were F-Open. To put their performance in perspective, if they had competed as a separate team in the FCWC F/TR event, they would have taken a comfortable third place, bracketing the GB F/TR team between both US teams. They did that while stuck up in the 'nose bleed' section of the firing line, targets 45-50, on the extreme right edge of the line which rises a good 20 feet or more above the left end) where the wind is a good bit more fierce than that on the lower portions of the line. The rain just flat dumped on them towards the end of the last 1000yd stage - it looked more like synchronized swimming with rifles than a shooting match there for a bit. Warren and Stan hunkered down and waited it out with their coach Mike Miller - for a while there the targets weren't even visible due to the rain. The rain got into Warren's barrel and gave him a wide shot once they resumed shooting, but he finished the string in fine form, and then Mike got Stan into the middle again and again. It was so wet still even with the sun now shining down that the flags were hanging almost straight down barely twitching - and Stan still came off the line with 5+ moa on his scope! An outstanding performance for sure!
