Bipods

I have been seeing pictures for some time of what looks like with just a quick glance a plain set of bipods like Harris type but they seem to have another section or mount between them and the rifle almost looks like it would allow the rifle to float or free recoil a little forward and backwards. Is it a type of mount or entirely different bipod ? What is the advantage to them ? If I have to try and find a picture to post I can

You may be seeing the "tilt" models? It is a pivot mount that sits between the gun and bipod legs.

It could be. Here is the first picture I found. Just wonder what they are and any advantages ? I have shot Harris bipods that swivel/tilt left and right never been super wild about having to load bipods but if I don’t man they bounce on hard surfaces

That Harris has had a picatinny quick release and a tilt (pod loc) lock mechanism added.

The original tilt lock was made by Terry Cross which is the KMW PodLoc and a common picatinny QR is made by American Defense. Your picture looks like it’s equipped with an American Defense QR. No idea who’s tilt lock that is.

This is a Harris with a KMW Pod Loc and an AD QR
