BiPod pad

Need to make a pad for my ftr bipod (phoenix) what is the legal size and what materials should I use to make it.
Hope this question has not been asked to many times already.
I use a rubber horse trailer mat that I got from Tractor Supply. It is about 3/4" thick and heavy. It comes 4' by 4' so you need to cut it with a box cutter to the size you want. Since it is flexible, it is not considered a board so it can be any size you want. I glued some carpet to the top of it, but the bare rubber works well also. This rubber is real heavy so it will give you a good solid base on a grassy surface.

What he said.

If you go to a carpet store they will give you a few of the “sample” pads that they have a gazillion of. Get the ones that are short pile. Works great for me!

Coach:D I thought it was 2”s wider on both sides of the widest part of the bipod no matter what you are using?

Yep:

I use the same in 12" × 24" which gives me the 2" on each side of my bipod. Works great.

Do you fly the drone done to look at your target?

Haha yes I was shooting a ladder and the way the range is setup you cant really see the bottom half of the target with all the brush around over 500y. Set the drone to hover around 25y above the target and then just drop it down and take a picture after every shot. Really makes shooting a ladder allot of fun without any problems of marking shots.

Well then let me throw a wrench into this thing. Does anybody know Aaron Farmer? Aaron is in charge of the NRA competition division. Aaron says,

Now we know the answer. As wide as necessary. AKA: whatever you want it to be.

Aaron's reply is not logical.

3.4.1.b is f-tr specific. 'Rest' can only be a poor word choice meaning exactly and only bipod.

The board can be as wide as necessary to be 2" wider than the bipod at maximum width.

Actually, the rule states "In the case of a bipod,
the board or plate may be as wide as necessary to accommodate
the bipod at its widest point, but not be more than 12” front to
rear." That means there really in no width restriction at all.

That doesn't make "not exceeding the dimensions of the individual rests by two inches on a given side" go away.

Both apply - the board can be 2" wider than the bipod you're using at its widest. That's what 'as necessary to accommodate' means. Not 'as necessary' for whatever other reason someone dreams up.

It doesn't matter if Aaron's reply is not logical. He's "the man". Aaron also specifically stated "the 2" is directed towards a rest NOT a bipod." That's clear as day. And,as far as the wording "as wide as necessary" goes, who is going to DQ a shooter saying his bipod is "wider than necessary"?
