Big Bores Boom at Danny Huffines 1500 yd MILE HIGH Range

A large time was had by all in attendence (where were you Junebug?)
Saturday evening at the Mile High with a wonderful and gracous
host, Mr. Danny Huffines (Granddad).
Danny's brother-in-law had the video camera set on the 1500 yard
line and the shoot was streamed on a live web-a-nar pay per view.
For info on the next 'live on the web' shoot contact Granddad.
RATES vary from state to state. Kalifornia forbids live feeds of
Barretts and Cheytacs, anything 30 cal or above.

Shooters were Danny with a Dasher and 338 Salvage,
tracy with a 338
Greg of Bugholes or Southern Precision shooting a
Bat 300 Ultra Mag and Bat 300 Win Mag.
I took a Diamondback drop port Dasher.

We started at 1,000 yds with Greg's 300 Win Mag. and it
was impressive. He shot a 4.5 in. group.
Then the 300 ultra mag came in with a 5.5 in group. Not
bad for 1,000.
Greg went over to the target on the Ranger and got a pic
as one of his barrels had some kind of new rifling.

I was up next and took my first shot. I was worried as we
could not see a hit on the plate. Greg went to paint the
plate and when he came back he had good news. I had
hit the plate near his group. So I dialed to it
and now I was centered. With the107 SMK's I was getting
a decent group. Greg had painted a bulls eye on the plate
and this made it much easier. I was almost touching the
bulls eye at 1 o'clock.
Chuckie time. I held on Chuckie's left side and the 107 SMK
tracked into center mass for a heart shot.
Now it's time to try the 115 DTAC's. First shot was as expected
6 inches higher than the 107's since it has a higher ballistic
coefficient. It was dead on in windage and 6 inches high.
Second shot went into a one inch group. Third shot
dropped down about 6 inches. Not a bad showing for the DTAC's.

Next up was Tracy's 338 which may have been an improved version.
It was absolutely smoking just making one big black spot
out there at 1,000 yards. Really impressive.

About this time George Clay drives up and I immediately
put him under my Dasher. He shot a little warm up group
with the 107's and then put two into Chuckie's chest that
appeared to be about a 2 in group. His hits were just a
few inches above my heart shot.

Tracy said his barrel was hot and he better stop.
With a group like that I said you are not going to try the
hog? Tracy said he guessed on more shot would be OK
and the one shot tracked into Chuckie's chest. The big
338 impact blacked out my Dasher's hits on the chest.
The big 338 put one center upper chest. The impact
took all the paint off the area.

Next up was Danny. I can't remember how his Salvage 338
did but his Dasher was shooting great. After a couple of shots
Danny could not see his hits and asked me to dial it in.
I dialed it for him and his next shot hit the 1,000 yd bull in the ***.
He next tracked one into Chuckie making a first shot kill.
I forgot to ask, Danny were you shooting SMK's or Bergers?
My bet is on SMK's.

Now we go to 1500 yards as daylight is getting short.
Tracy and Greg were wearing the 1500 yd plate out.
It was amazing how long it took the sound of bullet
striking metal to track back. They were hitting the
4' x 8' plate every shot. Impressive.

Almost forgot another shooter. Four year old Aiden rung
the plate at 1000 yards. He specializes in 200 yard eggs
with his PPC.

A great time was had by all.
Good friends, good BR's, another BEST of TIMES!!!!
ONE TO REMEMBER for sure.

Please tell me that you were kidding about the Kalifornia live feed thing!!!!! The reason I ask is that no where else in your (fantastic) post were you even a little bit sacastic.

Slow on the uptake,
Tod
