Better scope—Vortex Viper PST or Burris XTR-2

Looking to add a mid priced scope for coyote hunting purposes. Reticles aside for the moment, which scope would you rate ahead of the other in terms of overall, function, quality, clarity, etc?

I have a near new Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 5-25×50 FFP sitting in a box at home. Not impressed. Too expensive. Parallax is really stiff. Glass is not as good as some cheaper Chinese options such as Athlon Midas TAC. Zero stop is overly complicated to set and to change. I would not buy again.

Never used the Burris.

Thank you for the feedback. A little surprised given how many seem to like Vortex for the price point. But appreciate your perspective.

I've never had the Burris, but have a handful of the newer Viper HD's, which are a step up from the PST's. Plus they're made in the Philippines.

Vortex Viper PST Gen 1 vs HD

How much of an upgrade is the HD over the Gen 1? Is it worth the money for a casual shooter out to 1000 yards?

Have had a number of PST Gen 2s over the years and they are very good scopes in their price range. Good glass, track properly and a good reticle for holds. Zero stop is pretty easy to set.

The PST Gen 2 are better than the Burris XTR2 and on par with the XTR3 from my use of the 3. I haven’t tried a new Viper HD yet but they get good reviews and worth a look as another option.

Maybe I should pose the question in a little different manner. Is this worth the spend? Seems like a heck of a value! And Burris customer service seems to always impress folks.
