better accuracy

Hi all,
I have a Savage 11 .243 win., with a McGowen 1:12 twist varmint barrel with a 5-15x42 bushnell 3200 elite scope.

I found a really good load... a 70 grain nosler ballistic tip
bullet 46.3 grains of H4831, lapua brass, cci 200 primer seated
.10 from the lands and shoots .25 inch group at 100 yards. At 300 it spreads to 2.00 inches. Can I improve this 300 yard group, or leave it alone? Bedding needed?

Or get a 1:7 twist and shoot heavy bullets.

I tried 87 v-max and 85 BTHP sierra, with IMR 4064. I'm gonna try H4831 next, alot slower powder, with the 1:12 twist, it should work better. And yes, I used a wind flag.

The 85 and 87 gr bullets are on the edge for a 12tw. They may do ok at 100 but slow down in speed and open up at 300. The 80gr Berger would be your best bullet for the 12 tw. I start with a good match bullet to see what the gun will do. Then go to varmint bullets. I like 70 gr Sierria Blitzkings for all of my varmint hunting in a 6mm. The 80 Berger's MEF are good varmint bullets also.

You may want to try going closer to the lands. 0.10' is a good ways off, you may have meant 0.010' . I shoot most of my guns 0.005' off to 0.010' into the lands. Work you load to where you are seating, don't just take your load into the lands, back off first.

Is your spread vertical or round. Seating depth can cause vertical string.

It is shooting good at 100 yd with your load. Play with the seating depth, and see if it changes.

My 243 and 6mmAI did well with Varget and H414 with the lighter bullets 80gr and down.

If you go faster tw barrel, I would go with an 8
