Best way to fix this ?

I’m certain it’s the barrel extension making the dent but what’s the remedy ? I have polished it a little so it doesn’t have any sharp burrs. I thinks it’s the center tooth at 6:00. 6.5 grendel is the cartridge. Thanks image.jpgimage.jpg

That is most likely caused as the round is fed from the magazine. You could blunt and polish the back of the the upper teeth on the barrel extension; The bolt headspaces on the front of the extension, so the back is a non-critical area. As long as you remove a minimal amount of metal you won't compromise the extension. The dent is strictly cosmetic, so you could also choose to ignore the dents.

yea I know they are cosmetic. But I’m a little ocd lol. Its a little bigger dent than the pictures appear. Grendel brass is hard to come by is like to try and be easy on it

It will all be fine after you shoot it . I wouldNOT remove too much of the back side of the lug . Your cartridge did probably hit that BUT it also guided it into the chamber . You change that angle , you could change the feeding.

I don’t believe the magazine hit it, the bullet hitting the extension did
...but the magazine positioned the round so that it hit in a way that dented it. Some time back I ran into something similar with a detachable magazine for a bolt action. I did a little research, and bought a different magazine that totally solved the problem. They were plastic magazines that do not lend themselves to the kind of modification that metal ones do. This is because you have to remove material rather than bend it.

Try bending the feed lips a little more ?? Get the bullet pointed more at an angle

What makes you think that I was kidding? Did you go back and reread what he wrote? I could not have said it any better.
I know you were. I meant I would get serious bending the mag and getting bullets pointed upwards. Through out this site you and dusty both have been extremely helpful to many people with many problems.

Maybe one could be kind enough to post a picture of the angle of the rounds in a magazine they had to adjust on to fix that particular problem. Here is mine now image.jpg
