best twist for 6mm br ?

Ok,I am getting things together for the new build..
Still have a question as to which twist you all
think will be the best.As I mentioned, most all of the
shooting will no doubt be 300 or less yards...

But then again 500 as crossed my mind..So for the
most part, which twist do you all think I ought to be
going with as far as accuracy..Thanks... :-\

1:7 - 1:8. Twist is only part of the issue. Bullet weight and design of the bulet you use is another important component in that you must match your barrel with the right bullet. The twist part is actually the easiest to establish. People can recommend everything under the sun that works in their rifles, but YOU have to find which of those bullets works best in YOUR PARTICULAR RIFLE! Good luck with that new build and have fun.

For the range you're talking about you don't need heavy bullets and fast twist. If your target will be varmints, a 55/58gr 6mm bullet doing 3750-3900 shoots flat and blows the crap out of them. And 65's at 3650 or so work really well. Barrel is a Hart 14" twist. Heaviest bullets I've tried are 65's.......very accurate.

I have a 1-8 twist and shoot 105 amax's . They shoot great and if you ever want to shoot long distance they have a .5 bc . Great in the wind for a little bullet .

What type of shooting are you going to do most of the time, and what type of build are you going with. If this is a benchrest gun, used mostly for short range 100-300 than a range of 1-14 thru 1-12 will be best. The best way to answer this is what is the max weigth bullet that you plan to shoot. For short range 65-68 g is the norm.

I would use an 1-8 twist and have the throat for a 105 bullet on the shortest side so you could go down to a light bullet if you so desire. The long neck of the BR. lets you use a lot of bullets. The BR preforms good to 600 and 1000 on a good day with the 105 and it preform good with the lighter bullets with the 8 twist. You don't give up a lot with8 twist but the 10's and slower you give up the heavy bullets and that's where the BR shines...... jim
