BEST TWIST FOR 22 NOSLER / 55 GRN BULLETS?

What are you folks using to obtain best velocities and still fully stabilize 55 to 62 grain bullets in a .22 nosler? Figure 3,300fps in 55 grn?

Yes - all load data from nosler is with 8 twist, though that fast of twist is not needed to stabilize the lighter bullets such as the 55's. White oak and others sell a 12 twist and I'm not sure whether it will stabilize up to 62 grains - or perhaps it will help prevent bullet blow-ups on the light bullets as well - as opposed to the 8 twist. Anyone use a 12 twist?

The 12 twist WOA barrels are accurate. Mine likes H4895 and CFE223. Switching to Hagar brass increased my accuracy and speed also

Hagar brass along with a 6.8spc bolt makes a "nosgar".

The nosler platform should have been developed using a 10 twist where light and medium projectiles could be used at full speed without bullet jackets coming apart. Making it an excellent hotrod varmint cartridge.

Projectiles that require a 8 twist cannot be loaded at magazine length anyway, so what's the point of over stabilizing the bullet?

When using light projectiles with the 8 twist they have to be slowed down to achieve accuracy defeating the purpose of a wildcat in my opinion, at these slower speeds you just as well use standard 223.

when I did my first one I used a take off .223 bbl (12 twist ) and it did up to 60 gr Sierra just fine,,,,but as someone above said 9 or10 twist should be ideal when using/ordering a new custom bbl,,,,Roger

Glad to hear that 12 twist worked on the 60's, as I only intend to shoot bullets up to that weight (maybe even some little 40's) and figured the 12 might help to keep them together until down range. Thanks again for the input, folks!
