load help for 22-250 A.I. using 52-55 wts and H414

I searched the most recent 50 threads and still not what I was looking for. Can someone guide me on good starting point using 414 H for the 22-250AI and 52 and 55 grn bullets? It appears I will be in the 41-44 grn wts but do not need to burn out the barrel finding the max! Thanks, Tom

I have shot anywhere from 40-46 grains of H414 and 55 grn ballistic tips in my 22-250 AI's. Two have maxed out at 46 and one maxed out at 42. Start at 40 and go up from there...

I shot 46.5 gr H414 behind a 55 gr Nosler BT using a Fed 210 M for years. 4,060 fps with 27" Lilja. Accounted for many 600 plus yard first shot groundhog kills with the furthest one shot kill being 741 yards. Shot crows at 550 yards as well. Accurate and really fast. Probably max load.

I shot a lot of H414/W760 on PD towns under hot summer conditions. Some of the loads listed by previous posters would have been way too hot in my Shilen barreled 22/250 AI's in those weather conditions. I would start with maximum loads listed on the Hodgdon Reloading website for the Standard 22/250 Rem and work up from there. H414 can start to get pretty dicey in hot weather resulting in stiff bolt lift, smeared case heads and even blown primers. Case life will likely suffer too with loose primer pockets. Vic

OP: You're aware that 220 Swift loads are used in the 22-250AI, right? There's tons of Swift load data for H414/WW760.

I can go with 44 grains in cool weather, but I back off to 43 for the spring pd shoot and 42 in the hot summer days. Lilja barrel.

I have had more than a few 22/250 AI's. I shoot Win 760 with a FEd 210, 55g nosler in a zero freebore chamber, 12 twists.

IN all barrels chambered with this reamer, 44.5g of 760 shot the very best with the bullet kissing the lands, tiny, tiny groups in the very low 2's were the result. Now, H414 is said to be the same as 760, but I believe that it is .5g slower. I loaded 44.0g for hot weather, p. dog towns.

AA2700 will also give great results with a 55g nosler with groups in the very low 2's, start off at 43.0g and work up in a formed case.

Howdy !

You might also want to try H414 ( WW760 ) w/ FED LR " Magnum Rifle Match " primers.

Howdy !

I shot them in my wildcat " .22-35 Remington " wildcat. ( Case capacity between .22-250 and .22-250AI ).

The " Magnum Match " primers were THE thing ! These gave me my most accurate loads, shot from a 24"
1-14 5-groove SS Hart. I was shooting them under WW760 and 55SX, and also occasionally custom 60's over H414.
They were also used for the WW760 + prototype 55gr "V"-Max load, that got me into the 500yd club; on a 510yd groundhog kill.

When I re-barrelled to a 28" 1-8 5-groove SS K & P , I had these results:
My accuracy load was 75gr "A"-Max and 40.5gr AA3100 + FED LR Match; for 3,420 fps.
*** When I made a switch in the load to use of the " Magnum Match ", vel increased to 3,500fps honest; w/ a slight opening of the groups. ***

Now when I do load work-up w/ a new medium-capacity varmint/target cartridge, FED " Magnum Match " primers are the first ones I try out !
