Best small rifle primers for hotter loads?

Hi all, having to change primers regularly now due to shortages and have not found a brand that I can source that I am happy with after using Remington 7-1/2’s for the past few years, is there a way to find out the thickness on the cups of most brands so I can pick the right brand, federal 205’s are going ok but the fiocchi’s did not like my load at all. Is there something that is pretty close to the 7-1/2’s from federal or CCI or some other prominent brand I could try? Thanks in advance for any thoughts

If you are blanking primers there could be more to it than how hot your load is. I've shot 205's, BR4's and 400's with really stout PPC and 30BR loads and no issues with the primer or the load. There are some cup thickness charts around here somewhere if you dig around.

Thanks jimmymac, I have just swapped back to the other 223 AI as I was wondering if the firing pin was gassed but still had the same issue. Running same load and brass I wondering if Dillion stage press has powder drop issue too maybe. Will look into it as well.

Thick cup primers maybe the answer to an over sized firing pin hole in your bolt, but the load you are shooting may demand a specific primer due to ignition characteristics.

Rem 7 1/2 is a hot primer

CCI 450 is perhaps the hottest

Tula, Wolf small rifle mag primers are a hot primer also, but different ignition characteristics than others.

Some load adjustments maybe required as you try and achieve bug hole groups with different primers. Tula primers are a tad on the large size in Dia.

Federal 205MAR hold up well to my hot load with heavy bullets. As stated CCI450s do to.

I have blown and pierced CCI400 and Tula non-magnum SR primers in these loads.

Cci 450 are my favorite small rifle primer aside from S&B but I havent seen those in a few years now. I do not know about "hotter" but in my 308 lapua palma brass R 7-1/2 pierce while cci450 do not.
