Best option for 22mag lever gun

Is a Henry my best option on a lever 22mag that currently available? Price and dependability being taken into consideration as well. Thanks

Is there another maker still in existence? I've never had a Henry in .22 HMR but I did have a Goldenboy a few years back and it was a really good gun. Well made, very pretty and accurate. I sold it only because I also had a Winchester 9422M 1st year production and a Marlin 39A that my dad bought in 1946 & didn't need 3 lever action rf's. None of that detracts from the goodness of the Henry, though--the guy who bought it was very pleased with the gun.

Uberti or a Cimarron 1866 in the 24" barrel length. Three times the cost but a really nice rifle with a bunch of retro cool thrown in.... I use mine sometimes as a Pistol Cartridge Rifle for Metallic Silhouette NRA. The Henry I had shot at least as well as my Cimarron 1866 but weighed about half as much and the extra weight of the Uberti/Cimarron really helps in offhand shooting for the Silhouette sport.

Money wise.... For the bang for the buck the Henry is totally the King.

Edit to add: And it exactly matches the 22 LR Cimarron I shoot for the Rimfire division.

I used to have a Henry 22 mag and a Henry in 45 Colt. Got rid of them because I am just not a lever action person and used the money for other things. If I ever get the bug again for a lever action, I would definately get a Henry. I also used to have a Marlin in 45-70. Had an Uberti Walker and was not impressed with it.

I have a Winchester 9422M XTR w/checkering that I bought new back in the 70's or 80's. Shot it one time and it has been in the back of the gun safe since then. I only bought it because a buddy with FFL was going thru a divorce and he had a fire sale and I just couldn't resist the prices. Lever guns just not my cup of tea. Going to list it For $850.00. If interested, PM me and I'll send you photos.

I have a Marlin model 57 lever attic with micro groove rifling. It is a tube fed short stroke lever 22mag that I used as a kid hunting squirrels and groundhogs way back when. The trigger is a very hard pull and doesn’t lend itself to very accurate shooting but at that time I didn’t notice such things because it killed most everything I shot at. I don’t know your intended use and only mention it because it’s a lever 22 mag.

The Henrys work well and triggers are not difficult to improve, if desired. They make 'frontier' models with octagon barrels...in .22 lr at least they make 20" or 24" versions.

i had a henry 22 mag once.

it was the sweetest little carry gun i ever had. slick action and flawless function.

but it had trouble hitting a gallon jug at 50yd. it was a real disappointment compared to my marlins.

get the Winchester listed up above!!

I’ve never owned a Henry rifle but that may change. Pro USA and proud of it, that’s pretty rare now days. I like that!
