Best long range hunting rangefinder ?

How much money?

I have a Leica 1600 and the new Nikon Black X4000. The Leica has a smaller beam divergence, but I prefer the Nikon because it ranges farther in all lighting conditions and when hunting in the mountains, I don't necessarily need to make the beam bounce off the animal to get a reading accurate enough to make the shot. On a normal sunny day, I can range non-reflective targets at 2400-2500 yards with the Nikon (pine trees)

I have always liked the Nikon range finders .
Was looking at the 3000 earlier , I think it has the ID technology for shooting angles .
Not sure on the comparison of the two

I haven't tried the stabilized Nikon 3K, but I've read about some issues and disappointments with that one not ranging what it claims. I suppose that might not matter to some. The image and laser stabilization would be awesome.

Pretty much all rangefinders have incline angle compensation tech built into them now. But the Nikon 3K is the only one with image stabilization that I know of.

Cabelas has the Nikon rangefinders on sale right now

I have a Leica 1600, Leica 2700, and a Terrapin. The Terrapin is the best but also cost more than double the 2700. The 2700 is a substantial jump up from the 1600 in speed and in distance it will read. It's pretty common to get readings on animals at half the rated range and that would put a 2700 at 1350yds or further than 99.9% of the people take shots at game. It's more than the Nikon's but the glass is exceptional and has been stated, the beam divergence is small compared to most other cheaper rangefinders. I bought mine from Cabelas when you could get 20% off gift cards from ebay plus Active Junky bucks and it ended up costing me a little over 600.00. Now you cant get Active Junky bucks using gift cards and the 20% off gift cards haven't been on ebay for months. With the current gift cards from Raise it would be about 800.00 for a 2700.

So far, my Sig 2400 with on board AB ballistics is going strong for 2 yrs. with no issues. This particular model is assembled and tested in Oregon and has a 5 yr warranty. Carried into the field at least once a week year round. Happy with the unit so far.:D:D

I haven't really used it a great deal yet but I've had a Sig 2200 for about a year now and it seems to be working pretty well.

Steiner Military M830r range finding binoculars. Reliable, excellent glass, cut through fog, rain, and snow like no other anywhere near their price range. Heritage lifetime warranty. Military grade laser and extremely durably built. Ranging performance in all conditions is excellent. Very happy with mine. Used side-by-side with friends and their Sig 2000/2200/2400 make the Sigs seem like toys.

As my ranges increased, I went from a Leica 1200 to a 1600 to a Terrapin, and finally a 2000, with the idea of selling the 2000 if it worked. I was somewhat disappointed it in at extended ranges , so kept the terrapin,

When the 2700 came out, I bought one, and was impressed enough that I sold my Terrapin. Certainly not saying it's in the same league as the Terrapin, but for my uses, it tops anything else out there w/o stepping up to the Terrapin. If Leica would have come out with the 2400 at the time, I might have gone there, as I don't use the 2700 as anything but a rangefinder.
