Jon,
the world is dependent on "marketing".
not the best is always bought. it's what marketing can convience you , that you need this item & it's the beset.
the 243 gets all the print, but the 6mm is a better cartridge.
that should start the flames ;D
Did you get the last breeding pair?Stiff load of 4831 with magnum primer. Killed thousands of Pa groundhogs with it. Very accurate.
That was 50 years ago, no in my area the farmers shooting propane in the holes and igniting it along with eliminating fence rows did that. The one that was left became coyote food. 2 of us used that load for about 20 yrs. Goal was 200 per year each. Anything under 200 yds had to be shot offhand to count.Shot out original Rem 722 barrel, then a Douglass barrel then shot out a new Rem 700 Varmint barrel. In total probably less then some get in a single prairie dog excursion. The vast majority where given away and eaten. Shot many rounds out of those barrels at offhand shoots and running deer shoots in addition to groundhogs.Did you get the last breeding pair?

I saw encouraging signs from H4831 SC behind Berger 74-gr MEF Moly, WLR primer. Here's a couple of groups printed in preliminary node testing, but I then ran Tubb fire lapping bullets through it and switched to Speer 70-gr TNT. (Here 4-shot vertical group dimension denoted, ignoring breeze and concentating on vertical hold. Barrel is the original 1967 R700 Varmint Special, very first year of production!)Stiff load of 4831 with magnum primer. Killed thousands of Pa groundhogs with it. Very accurate.
